“Soft Flutter of Wings”, Ashar

Based in the breathtaking Somerset Levels, Ashar’s exquisite paintings in oil and mixed media capture the emotion and essence of the landscape. After spending the winter months making sketches en plein air, she spends the remainder of the year building these impressions and sensations up into intricately layered meditations upon time and place. These pieces seek to go beyond a purely visual representation. "I do not want to depict these places”, says the artist. “I want to express my feelings for them and create work that can be felt.”

Ashar studied at the University of Plymouth, and since then has been constantly challenging and developing her practise. We’re delighted to unveil these wonderful paintings and can’t wait for you to see them. We hope you can visit soon, but in the mean time the full collection can be viewed here.
