Abstract Painter Clarisa Rakos Joins The Paragon Gallery

As if one new artist weren’t exciting enough, we’re delighted to announce the arrival of a second supremely talented new figure to The Paragon Gallery!

“Beyond the Boundaries I”, Clarisa Rakos

Clarisa Rakos took the long and winding road to painting. A former professional Irish dancer who went on to teach and choreograph the discipline, she directed one of the largest Irish dance schools in South America and toured both nationally and internationally with several groups and bands.

She began painting in 2017 upon moving back to the UK while recovering from a dance injury. Her heritage and career background have made the British Isles and the Celtic world one of the key focus points of her work.

Having spent much of her life in Chile, the art of the nation’s indigenous people has also been a key inspiration. Her artwork is abstract and intuitive; most of her paintings are composed of many layers, which are then scraped down before being covered with paint again in order to create an aged and distressed patina, textures and marks.

We simply adore Clarisa’s instinctive affinity for paint and her ability to craft a lyrical window into the realms of history, myth and the spiritual. Her jewel-like artworks are on display now, and we can’t wait for you to see them. If you are unable to visit us in person, a full selection of her work can be viewed here.
