Kip Kavallares
BRITISH PAINTER
"I like expressive marks, scrapes, drags and drips. I really don't mind if colours jar; buck the trend if you like. When you look at my work I want you to get close, stick your face into the painting and step back smelling of paint!"

Kip is a self-taught artist living in Gloucestershire. In 2013 he rekindled his love of painting and is continuously developing his style. However, he feels that nothing beats just plain “playing” with paint.
When working he enjoys producing interesting brushstrokes, scrapes, lines, textures and colours. He works mostly from sketches and photographs but tries hard not to be too influenced by the colours, leaving him free to experiment.
For Kip, it’s the process of creating a piece that excites him, pushing and pulling the paint around the canvas, laying down layers of pigment then stripping them back again, waiting to see what develops and where it’s going next.
2015 saw his first solo exhibition at the Gloucester Guildhall Gallery followed by other exhibitions around the region. 2016 and 2017 saw a further progression by receiving accolades from the prestigious American Arts Awards for three entries into their worldwide competition.
