PJ CROOK & The Lions at Large Trail

This summer, Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity have embarked on a Wild in Art trail, in order to raise funds for a proposed new cancer care facility in Cheltenham. 32 large lions will be on display around Cheltenham and Gloucester throughout the summer, alongside 54 smaller lions, all lovingly created by local artists, schools and community groups. The trail has roared into action this week, with our local heroine, PJ Crook, leading the pride with her awe-inspiring creation, depicting animals journeying to the Ark. All the lions will be auctioned in October but until then, allow us to introduce Leon, our new gallery sentinel, who will be proudly adorning the window until 14th September. Find out more about the Lions at Large Trail and get involved HERE.

This is a fun, free and family-friendly Wild in Art event. Streets, parks and open spaces are dazzling with vibrant colours and surprising designs. Helping to bring together our community to explore and feel pride in their local area.

The trail will run until Sunday 14th September. Once the trail is over, the pride will reunite for a fantastic farewell weekend, taking place at the iconic Cheltenham Racecourse from Friday 3rd – Sunday 5th October. After this, the little Lions will return to their forever homes at the local school and community groups who created them. The large Lions will then be auctioned to raise funds for proposed new cancer care facilities in Cheltenham with digital consulting rooms, space for state-of-the-art research, as well as a therapeutic outside space.
