Phil studied Illustration and Graphic Design at Southend Art School and completed an MA in Fine Art at Canterbury Christ Church University.

Phil has been a practising artist for many decades. He has exhibited extensively in the UK and USA, with his work featuring in numerous public and private collections. He has been published by Felix Rosenstiels and Medici. His work has featured in television productions and he has contributed to BBC radio programmes.

In recent years, his study has been influenced by an expansive and varied range of modernist painters, including Matisse, Rothko, Diebenkorn, Heron and Frost - all of whom mastered the expressive language of colour.
