Doug Eaton

BRITISH PAINTER

Doug’s style is unmistakeable: bright and bold with a painterly quality. His inspiration comes from his beautiful surroundings in the Forest of Dean. He tries to provide only a minimum of information to the viewer, to suggest the subject and then leave the rest to the imagination.

Doug grew up in Coleford in the Forest of Dean. After school he went on to study at the Stroud School of Art and then the Cheltenham College of Art. He began to paint full-time in 1977 but worked in the graphics industry until 2001.

During that time Doug exhibited with the Royal West of England Academy, the Cheltenham Group of Artists, the Pastel Society and many local exhibitions.

His work is an exploration of contrasts: “I am interested in extremes, soft against hard edge, dark against light, hot against cold, and try to marry them together”.

Doug has exhibited widely throughout the UK and his paintings are held in private collections all over the world.
